How to see thumbnails when uploading images from my mac?

How to see thumbnails when uploading images from my mac? Scenario: I'm at shutterfly, myspace, whatever, and I'm trying to upload images from my mac. I click on the browse button and a file upload window comes up. When I browse to my photo folder, all of the files are in list view. The only way I can see which pictures I'm choosing is to click on them all individually to see the thumbnail to the right. Instead of a list, I'd like to be able to choose from thumbnails. This also happens when I go to file>open in photoshop CS. Luckily, I've found a workaround by using the browse feature in that situation. I know how to show files as icons in the finder, that's not the issue here. The same folders that are coming up as lists when I upload show up as thumbnails when I simply use the finder. Forgive me if this is a really simple fix, but it's driving me crazy!

Unfortunately there's not, and I really do wish Apple would add an icon view to the open/save dialogs in Leopard. One work around is to view your photos in large icon view in the Finder and then apply a label to the ones you want to open (either under the file menu or via right click). The label will show up in any open/save dialogs.

Another workaround: use icon view in the finder and then drag the desired file into the browser's open file selector dialog.

Another workaround... in a Finder window open the folder with the images you want, in the search pane look for jpg or gif or whatever file time you're looking for and you'll see thumbnails for the jpgs in that folder in a Spotlight view. From there you can drag them into the file upload window. Leopard will have a thumbnail view by default, which will be nice.

If you can go to column view in the Open dialog box, you can see previews there by clicking on the file.

Do you mean that you know how to change the view from list to icon with the buttons on the finder window? Do you know about Finder > View > Show View Options? You can tick a box there that turns everything into a preview thumbnail. You can also change the size of the icons. I ask this because I just tried the same thing, an upload to Flickr, and I can see icons in the finder window. Also, have you opened the finder and right-clicked in it? There are view options there, too.

Not exactly a solution, but when I'm uploading to Flickr or similar, I've already named and tagged all my photos - you don't need to see them if they have descriptive titles (which also makes it possible to search for them later).
