Whom should I be for Halloween?

Where to get a good amount of legal Halloween music for a pre-school Halloween party?

  • Where to get a good amount of legal Halloween music for a pre-school Halloween party? I'm the music guy for a pre-school Halloween party. I'm looking for the cheapest legal way to get a great Halloween mix in the next week or so. It's okay if the music goes away after the party (e.g. paid download subscription for a week) as long as the music can be played off a ipod without network access. Things that would be great: Great Halloween music (think monster mash / purple people eater) Offline playback from ipod Only need access till Oct 31st. Don't mind paying, but don't want it to be more expensive then just buying 2-3 Halloween CDs from Amoeba. (which might be the best answer!) I'd like the ability to play the music in a specific order / playlist (so something like live365 or Pandora is not going to work)

  • Answer:

Is it too late to see if your local library has novelty Halloween CDs available? They would at least be cheap to acquire.

Check out the super-amazing weblog http://scarstuff.blogspot.com/, maybe? His http://scarstuff.blogspot.com/2006/04/various-ghouls-spook-party-scar-stuff.html have been a Halloween staple in my iPod for years now. Some of the songs might be too much for preschoolers, but you can pick and choose the appropriate stuff. Hap Palmer's "Witches' Brew" was the coolest Halloween song among my kindergarten peers back in the olden days, and it's still apparently a hit today. It's on iTunes!

Are there any used bookstore/CD stores nearby? They will probably be featuring Halloween music about now, and then you can donate the CDs to the school for future use.

Spotify has an https://www.spotify.com/us/help/faq/offline-mode/ mode that allows you to cache up to 3,333 songs and create playlists.

Sorry, Spotify might not meet the iPod criteria for the offline mode, but sounds like it would work if there's any possibility of using a laptop instead.

I ended up staying up to 3 in the morning downloading things from iTunes (80% of the Halloween songs were really bad covers made specifically to take peoples money if they weren't paying attention) When all was said and done, Pandora's Halloween station was better than what I put together (though required a phone to be plugged in) We turned the PA down during commercials but otherwise it was great.
