Were is a good camping spot in WA?

Camping in the Arbuckle Mountains of Oklahoma. We need a beautiful spot!

  • Camping in the Arbuckle Mountain Range in Oklahoma: I need a good, quiet, private beautiful spot. My buds and I are gonna do some camping during the first weekend of April. I've gotten some ideas from colleagues about the best spots in the Arbuckle Mountain Range to camp, but I would love the Hive Mind's input. It's gonna be 5 to 7 people (or so), all adults, and we're looking for a nice park (national, perhaps? Chickasaw National Recreation Area has been suggested), at least running water at the site, but still tent camping. We're looking for a place that is not gonna be one of those crowded, rowdy, party-killing rangers places. I'm sure we'll be rowdy enough. :D Any suggestions? Help make this trip a camping trip to remember!

    Be careful in campgrounds on national grounds in Oklahoma. You can't drink alcohol there -- I had a $250 ticket to prove it. So, if beer will be involved, make sure you pick somewhere where it's legal.

I don't have any knowledge of the area in which you're planning to camp, but I've got some advice to offer anyway... Forget running water at the site! The fewer amenities available, the better - for two reasons... Reason #1: The further away from amenities you are, the further away form the rest of the people you are. This lets you party all you want without being disturbed by other people (or disturbing people yourselves). Reason #2: You're going camping right? So camp! Want water? Boil it! Or use iodine tablets/droplets, bleach, filters or even http://www.rei.com/product/761905 to clean it up before drinking it.

Nice. Are the state grounds as kept up as the national grounds? I had no idea about the alcohol thing - $250 bucks? I sincerely hope that fee goes back into the park!
