Are there some really good online sources of internship?

Where can I find good online sources for A+ Certification.

  • Where can I find good online sources to study for the A+ Certification. I'm working on getting my A+ certification. Where can I find some good online study guides (and/or tests) that are free or inexpensive? What books are worth purchasing? Is the test difficult? Which test was harder?

  • Answer:

I havn't yet taken the test. I do like the Exam-Cram books though. I also bought a largish one from another company as well. I havn't flipped through it as I loaned it to a friend some time ago. I've done quite a bit of research. The general idea is that online resources are mostly a waste of your time. You'll be lucky to find a few sites with 10-20 sample questions, who want you to buy their study guides or more sample questions/prep tests. If you arn't good at tests, expect them to be difficult. They will try to throw some loops at you. Exam-Cram series, and pretty much any good book, should tell you what to expect from the test and the testing company. I really don't know how hard it will be. It's a goal I've had for many years and havn't had the time to bother. I don't work in the industry so it's not a big deal, and I'll be paying for it myself. I plan to read both books I have to get a good picture and refresh myself on everything. Check out amazon.com's selection, they have plenty of reviews on the books by people who have taken the tests after reading specific books.

i found http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0072229918/metafilter-20/ref=nosim/to be the best there is. it just breaks it down topic by topic and makes taking the test very easy as it comes with a cd of practise tests and whatnot. its pricey but it does the job. all of his books are good.

ps. the a+ is not really that hard, its just a lot to keep in your brain all at once, no one expects you to remember all that stuff forever, just long enough to pass the test, at which point you can keep the book as a good reference for helping you solve problems in the future. the test is computerised, they ask you an easy question, then if you get that right a medium, then if you get that right a hard one. you have to get so many hard ones correct to pass. its that simple. the problem is if you keep getting the easy or medium ones wrong they wont bump you up to the hard ones and you cant pass, so you have to know the easy stuff and the hard stuff.

The A+ test isn't that difficult, but it does require memorizing some very specific knowledge that you're not likely to use in your everyday work as a technician. When I purchased my exam http://www.getcertify4less.com, it came with PDF format study guides from http://www.tcat.net. His sample questions were directly relatable to the actual questions on the exam and there was no extraneous information. Make up some flashcards, and go over them! You can use the vouchers for up to a year after purchase (I think), so if you don't feel comfortable taking the test after reading the free PDFs, you have time to pick up a book.
