What accessories does the Xbox 360 need?

Carry case for Xbox 360 and accessories?

  • Carry case for Xbox 360 and accessories? I'm going to build a fitted foam carry case for the girlfriend's Xbox 360. I already have a case that is 17 1/4" x 15 1/8", the bottom is 5 5/8" deep and the top is 1" deep. The basic plan looks something like this:FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF c c c c c FF c c c c c FFFFFFFF c c c c c FF c c c c c FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF x x x x x x x x x x x FF p FFFF x x x x x x x x x x x FF p FFFF x x x x x x x x x x x FF p FFFF x x x x x x x x x x x FF p FFFF x x x x x x x x x x x FF p FFFF x x x x x x x x x x x FF p FFFF x x x x x x x x x x x FF p FFFF x x x x x x x x x x x FF p FFFF x x x x x x x x x x x FF p FFFF x x x x x x x x x x x FF p FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFWhere 'F' is foam, 'c' is controller, 'p' is power supply, and 'x' is the xbox itself. Horizontally a character is 1/2" and vertically a character is 1" One problem is that for now it is at her sister's place and I don't have access to it. I will probably be able to get to the real thing for a final check, but I need to get started now... I've found the dimensions of the http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://media.teamxbox.com/dailyposts/xbox360/specs/xbox360dimensions.jpg&imgrefurl=http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/8417/Xbox-360-Physical-Dimensions/&h=321&w=550&sz=71&tbnid=vi6jJ_dVSZGgzM:&tbnh=75&tbnw=130&hl=en&start=2&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dxbox%2B360%2Bdimensions%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26sa%3DN, and I have a controller still in package on the kitchen table... I need the dimensions of the power supply, and the cable bundles. I'm starting to get the feeling I don't have enough space actually... 1" around the outside edge seems a little tight. Any opinions on how much support it really needs? It is intended to be used, at least in theory; not just from living room to back seat of car either, since we don't drive. I could drop one or both controllers and turn the xbox 90deg, that would allow a minimum 1.5" of foam, and some space for other accesories/games. Another box might be an option, but I tend to doubt it (the box I'm using is from a http://www.factorydirect.ca/catalog/product_spec.php?pcode=WA0600. There is apparently a 1000 CD case around somewhere, but I don't think I can find it). I think I'll quit there and see what everyone has to say, thanks!

For now the xbox is at her sister's place, of course. I have the carry case here.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the power supply." The Xbox sitting in my living room is connected to a standard wall socket by a generic-looking six foot long power cord. There's one little cylinder near the Xbox end of the cord that might be a surge protector; this is no more than one inch in diameter. It takes however much space a tightly rolled six foot extension cord would fit into. The only other cord would be the AV connector, which again is fairly standard, except for a large female pin connector on the Xbox end. This connector is probably not wider than an inch and a half. The only other thing I would be careful of in building your case is the controllers; they do come in different sizes (does your sister have the original large controllers or the newer S-Type ones)? I would also account for the cord in building the spaces for the controllers; wrapping the cord around an Xbox controller could possibly make it as much as an inch "bigger" on one end.

YAN, the XBOX 360 has an incredibly huge separate power supply (the power supply alone is about the length of an original XBOX from the demos I've see, and about half the width). Ya, I'm being serious. I don't know the actual dimensions, though, sorry. I don't know about anything else, although I assume all the other cables are different from the original XBOX as well. I would reccomend asking at http://www.xbox-scene.com/, chuckles. Someone there would be happy to measure it all out for you.

Yeesh, you really did write "Xbox 360" several times, didn't you? I wonder how I survive sometimes.
