  • Referencing dvd commentaries using the Harvard Bibliographic system. I've looked around online and although many pages tackle similar items I haven't been able to find anything satisfactory.

  • Answer:

I feel that you're overthinking this. What is wrong with using the same format as any other audiovisual material? Sorkin, Aaron 2004, In the Shadow of Two Gunmen, Part 1 [DVD Commentary] The West Wing: The Complete Second Season, Warner Home Video, Burbank CA. If the DVD had only a talking-head interview with the commentator, that would be a clear-cut AV-material citation. If the DVD had only the film with the commentary track, that would be a clear-cut AV-material citation. The fact that the commentary is an optionally-selectable facet of the DVD doesn't really make it different from any other DVD. IMHO.
