How do you downgrade a custom firmware PSP to official firmware 1.5?

  • Looking for suggestions for running custom firmware on a PSP Slim (please see my stipulations inside!) I just got a PSP slim and am interested in loading custom firmware on it primarily to use custom firmware on it, primarily to run PSOne games that aren't officially supported by Sony yet. I would prefer the option that is least likely to brick my PSP, whether I can run something temporarily or revert to the 'official' firmware at any time. I also don't want to cut myself off from playing new games if they do a firmware check. Also curious to hear what other benefits a custom firmware would give me besides running PSOne images and homebrew games.

You are pretty well safe, whatever you run. A while back the "hacker" community came up with a way to unbrick PSPs. It does require a spare battery that will be changed to a jump battery, that will render it useless as a regular battery. http://www.pspfanboy.com/2007/08/23/pandoras-battery-unbricks-all-psp-systems/ is completely free.

Also, forgot to mention that I realize there is a lot of information out there on custom firmware but my research in Google and Wikipedia led to an overwhelming amount of info so I wanted to get advice from folks here who have had experience with it.
