• Performances by Russian ballet companies in England? [more inside] It would mean a lot to my grandmother to see one of the more famous Russian ballet companies perform live, and I would like to get her tickets as a birthday present. I was hoping that it would be possible for her to see a ballet in Russia on an upcoming trip, but now it doesn't look like that will work out. I have therefore been trying to find out whether any Russian company will be performing in England (ideally in the Northwest of England, where she lives) in the coming months. So far, I have had no success. Any information and/or research suggestions would be much appreciated.

I'd suggest checking the websites of likely venues in http://www.manchester.gov.uk/visitorcentre/do/concerts.htm & http://www.liverpool.gov.uk/graphics_version/root/Culture_and_tourism/Art_theatre_music/index.asp and go from there. The new http://www.thelowry.com/ in Salford is another possibility. In London, http://www.sadlers-wells.com/ is home to many touring companies. Why does it have to be a Russian company by the way? The UK produces some of the best ballet in the world. http://www.ballet.org.uk/ tours a lot, as does http://www.nbt.co.uk. There is also the highly rated http://www.brb.org.uk/ (formerly Sadler's Wells Ballet) and, of course, the http://info.royaloperahouse.org/PerformingSpaces/Index.cfm?ccs=492. Ah, just noticed, the http://info.royaloperahouse.org/PerformingSpaces/Index.cfm?ccs=492&cs=1376 are coming to London this summer.
