How to find my mac admin password?

This Old Mac: Recovering Butler SQL admin password

  • Antique Mac/Butler SQL question. (System 7.6) Recovering or resetting the Butler SQL admin password. I'm an admin for a small university and I inherited an old, old Mac (running OS 7.6) that has one database and query still in use. It is using a Tango query (via a WebSTAR plug-in) to a Butler SQL database. I want to export the db so I can get a similar application running on a modern machine (probably using php/mysql) but I need the data in the existing database. To get into Butler SQL (v 2.0.2) it wants an Admin password, which I did not receive and can't be found anywhere in the documentation that I have. Can anyone tell me how to recover or reset the Admin password for Butler SQL? If you know someone that used to work for Everyware, please pass this question on!

  • Answer:

Spock--I'm on a developers email list for the Panorama database program, many of whose members use or have used Butler. I'll post your question there and let you know of any replies.
