Do follow And No follow?

'people who follow you' is to 'followers' as to 'people who you follow' is to _____?

  • Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a good word for this in the English language. The follower/following model is great but the language can get really awkward and wordy when trying to succinctly describe 'people who you follow'. "My followers' favourites" sounds fine but any attempt at the converse is either grammatically incorrect or too wordy: "my followee's favourites", "my followings' favourites', "people who I follow's favourites". I've noticed some sites use 'friend' for this (People who follow me are my followers and people who I follow are my friends) but this distorts the meaning of friend: why should I refer to someone I follow as my friend just because I follow them? Facebook uses 'subscribe' instead of 'follow' but it has problems too. 'My subscriptions' doesn't sound too bad but 'My subscription's favourites' does not sound right.
