What would be a good back up plan?

In The Titan's Curse, what exactly was Kronos's plan to bring Thalia back to life?

  • I'm a little confused. Why did he want to bring Thalia back? I don't see how bringing her back served his overall interests. "Another piece of the puzzle" re the prophecy? I don't get it. What was his tactical plan to get the fleece back to Camp Half-Blood in just the right sequence of events? How did he know that the fleece would bring Thalia back, while Chiron and Mr. D apparently did not?

  • Answer:

I don't think either side thought that Thalia would be revived by the Golden Fleece.  The tree was poisoned to destroy the magical boundaries surrounding Camp Half-Blood, so Kronos' army could attack it. Whether Kronos was behind it or not, what it did do was create confusion on whether Thalia or Percy was the one that is mentioned in the prophecy. I hope this answers some of your questions on the matter.

When Thalia was brought back, she was 15 years old and a child of the eldest gods, which means she could be the child of the prophecy, not Percy. Thalia knew Luke from child hood, and like Annabeth, she also could have a soft spot for him, meaning if she switched sides and she was the child of the prophecy, Olympus would have fallen. However, lucky enough, Thalia wasn't as weak to Luke as Annabeth was, and she joined the Hunt, meaning Percy was the child the prophecy.
