Why does Windows live mail sometimes takes so long to open?

Why do I have so many duplications when importing addresses into Windows Live mail?

  • when importing address book from Outlook Express into Windows Live Mail - many duplications occur and they are hard to get rid of.  While holding down CTRL key and using mouse to click on an address works strangely also - sometimes when I click it does not take and I have to re-click - it seems to be random - the extra click - it is very frustrating and takes a very long time - is there anything which can be done to avoid this?

From the contacts page, you can select "manage" and then select an option to clean your contacts and remove duplicates.   Thank you for using Hotmail.

I had a huge amount of difficulty dealing with this problem also.  I finally got it cleaned up, I think.  Windows XP's, "Outlook Express" was and is simply the best, easy to use and highly intuitive.  I believe Microsoft has made the latest version of Windows and thus Live Mail to resemble the Mac/Apple environment for many reasons - I hate that environment.  I was forced to buy a manual to get me through.  I bought, "Windows 7, the missing manual" by David Pogue on Amazon - a big and heavy manual, but its great!  It helped me to change Windows 7 so I can actually use it!  It is now fairly user friendly like Windows XP - Buying the manual is well worth the money - I have more control over my system now - its not perfect, but better.
