Are these people search engines legitimate?

What are the best "people" search engines?

  • Search engines focused on organizing/collaborating information about individuals.

  • Answer:

This is probably not the answer that this question intends to solicit, but (IMO at least) there is no question that Facebook, Google, and LinkedIn are the best sites for people search on the Web today. I do a lot of people search in my professional and personal lives, and the only other site that would break into this list for me is Twitter. After those four companies, nothing is close.

according to wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_search_engine A human search engine is a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_engine that uses https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human participation tohttps://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/filter the search results and assist users in clarifying their search request. The goal is to provide users with a limited number of relevant results, as opposed to traditional search engines that often return a large number of results that may or may not be relevant. Examples of human search engines include https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumper_2.0, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ChaCha_(search_engine),https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahalo.com, and the now defunct NowNow (from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon.com) and http://bitly.com/peoplesearchengines(most accurate).Searched by http://google.com/

Try Whova (http://whova.com ).  It aggregates all kinds of internet data into one profile (news, company pages, of course social network sites.. ).   It distinguishes people with the same name, and it seems accurate. Most of all, I think the people connection information is valuable;  different from LinkedIn.

Well not exactly a people search engine but we are building a product, Vibe which brings 'People Context' wherever you need it. Vibe ( http://vibeapp.co )  can work with your Chrome or MAC desktop to give people information on a click. We do not give high level details, but just enough for you to form a context around the person. We believe a normal person likes sharing information when it is the basic details about her but will not like it when her wealth certificate and personal information are shared.

I'm generally trying to get valid phone numbers for people.  To start with I use http://www.zabasearch.com/ - this often will give me family member names that are listed under the same address or phone number.  Usually I already know the address when I use this. Then if I need more information I'll see what is available on http://pipl.com/ which is a gateway to http://www.intelius.com once the results are found.  They offer name, address, phone number, email addresses, age and relatives. [4.95 per result] The sponsored links on that site: http://Spokeo.com - [$4.95 per month] http://PeopleFinders.com [6.95 per month] http://peoplesmart.com - [39.95 per year] I'm assuming http://www.intelius.com is the 'best' at [$4.95] for 1 search the price is a bit high for me to give it a try so far.
