How to hide application icon programmatically?

How can I remove the Dock Icon for a Mac Application without closing it?

  • I downloaded an Application that runs in my menubar, but it also has a useless icon in the dock. I have tried modifying the LSUIElement in the Info.plist file using Xcode, which is what countless sites across the internet suggest, but it still shows up in the dock. I know this must be possible through either Xcode or Terminal. (or maybe something else too, I guess) How can I get the icon to no longer appear in my dock when the application is open, without closing the application, and still have it in my menubar?

You have checked App's Preferences ? Most of the times you will have an option to disable the Dock Icon from App's Preferences directly. Or if you can mention the app name, I can check.
