Is there a website that you can find a travel partner?

What's the best way to find a decent travel partner, as someone who is easygoing with a fairly loose agenda?

  • I want to find someone else who is ready to leave their life behind for a bit to indulge their wanderlust, also ISO a compatible travel buddy. I'm an American, but am open to meeting up with a travel partner across the pond as well. I have a number of places I'm interested in, but since I'm a first-time traveler, I'm open to suggested destinations/itineraries as well. I could travel anywhere from several weeks to several months or more, depending. Any recommended sites or message boards, etc. that could help facilitate connecting safely with someone else who has similar goals?

When faced with a similar situation, I was lucky enough to be in Amsterdam. Well, I found such a partner quite soon without even looking or asking anyone. So I can't advice you on an internet site, but do the following:  - visit nearest Rainbow Gathering  - go stay in Amsterdam for some time And you know what? Do this even if you are not looking for a partner :) I also have to say that one of the biggest things I learned in my trip - its best to travel alone. However you need to grow into this understanding first.
