What is your opinion on the merits of "News" Content Marketing?
-
Innovative Marketing Ideas (IMI) has recently launched it's "News Content Marketing" platform. We create "Breaking News" sites around Niche Industries targeting "niche traffic." So if we wanted to target New York Yankees fans, we would create a breaking news site on the Bronx Bombers. IMI has created a proprietary software platform that creates "news bots" trained to search for news stories relating to the "keywords" they are programmed to find. Upon locating said "breaking news" around said keyword(s), it is retrieved by our servers whereby it is reconstituted into an easy to read format. Our SEO enhanced platform is structured in a Drudge Report style, with improvements. In addition to a headline and link to the original content provider, ala Drudge, IMI's service provides credit to the author, a pic (when available) a 25 word Preview of the News Article, Credit to the Original Content Provider and additional headlines related to the keyword. IMI's newsbots go out every 15 minutes, 24/7/365 providing fresh and breaking news on every keyword our bots are trained to look for. We can build a breaking news site around any industry, vertical or niche within said vertical. Our pilots demonstrated a 60-90 day "incubation" period, during which time, Google, Bing/Yahoo index our XML sitemaps and articles. Thereafter, because we are "niche" based, and SEO/SEM enhanced, (Penguin and Panda safe) we gain credibility with the search engines quickly, (GPR of 3 within 90 days.) creating what we call, IMEye-balls. Traffic = Revenue. To see our platform in action, you may visit: http://nfcip.org/ which provides breaking news on the NFC Industry. See how we perform on Google. Copy a headline and paste it into Google and judge for yourself. We are in the midst of creating breaking news sites on every Pro Sports Team, NFLNews*.com, NBANews*.com, NHLNews*.com, and MLBNews*.com whereby the * denotes the name of the team. i.e. for Chicago Sports Fans, we've got: NFLNewsBears = http://nflnewsbears.com/ NBANewsBulls = http://nbanewsbulls.com/ NHLNewsBlackhawks = http://nhlnewsblackhawks.com/ MLBNewsCubs = http://MLBNewsCubs.com MLBNewsWhite Sox = http://MLBNewsWhiteSox.com Check it out, I think you'll grasp what we've done and if any of your clients would like a Niche News Site Revolving around their Niche company, product or service, we would be happy to put together a quote. Prices start at $99/month for 3 keywords, each additional keyword newsbot is $25/month. Why does "News Content Marketing" have so much upside? Because it has numbers behind it... From RedRocketMedia

Answer:
It sounds like a great big pile of BS to me, and I'll tell you why: 1. If this worked so well, the developer wouldn't share it. 2. Google values websites that offer a UNIQUE user experience. As I see it, aggregating breaking news for a specific niche isn't very unique from the user's perspective. It's called "Google News", and all I have to do is type in my keyword to get it. 3. Google values websites that offer a QUALITY user experience. Aggregating the first 25 words of someone else's news story isn't very high quality...it's sort of like a long version of Twitter (another site that already helps people find breaking news). 4. Why would a user trust a site made with this script when they could just visit their favorite news site? Again, if I want to know what's going on, I want info from the horse's mouth - not some aggregator that may or may not have the info I'm seeking. It's generally correct to say that bots aren't nearly as sophisticated at finding news as journalists are. 5. Automated content never survives a Google update. Let's say for sake of argument that this is the greatest system since sliced bread, and that it single-handedly turns the Internet and SEO world on it's head. Here's what happens: automated content script works, so other scripts come online soon, everyone is using an automated content script Google and Bing, seeing that their results are being polluted by automated content scripts, come up with a way to kill the format automated content script is dead For the record, I'm not saying that this service isn't well designed, nor am I saying that it's a bad deal. I bet this system can serve a very real purpose for some industries, and I encourage anyone who thinks it might be useful to test it out. However, when a read a slick sales presentation (and it is very slick), I get a little concerned that I'm about to be duped.
