Answer:
Beats by Dr. Dre is an immensely successful branding operation for audio gear. There is a great deal to be learned, both consciously and unconsciously from successful business in the early stages. So there is some learning. Dolby, for example, is a long established brand in the same space, but it's golden days were 20 years ago. After a year or so at Beats, you will have that experience on your resume. It's a name brand. Now if you have your MBA from very well known school (Harvard, Stanford, Wharton...) having Beats on your resume may not add that much. But even for a very good school like Kellogg, having another strong name brand is a plus. (I mention Kellogg because they have good program and a friend graduated from there) Something you are likely to see is that some of the people who help make Beats successful will be moving to other opportunities. Get to know those people even if they are leaving. They may want to recruit you later. If I was a head hunter, I would want to check out people at Beats, because they will be a great match for companies wanting to build a consumer brand around a technology product. Disney just bought Lucas Films. Lucas has THX sound. Think Disney would like to build THX sound as a consumer brand like Beats ? Where would they look to hire people that could do that ? **** The Austin opportunity - Is this the next Instagram / Ebay / uberCar / etc. ? If it is, that's the way to go. Only you can answer that **** From an outside viewpoint - Beats has - "golden age" and what you can learn name brand networking opportunities Austin social commerce - is unknown. So people on Quora might not be able to add much to your decision process. Best of luck to you which ever option you take.
