Something like ebay out there?

I know SugarCRM does sales forecasting. Is there a way to get a SugarCRM installation to automatically pull eBay sales data and make forecasts? Or should I just use something else like Magento?

  • I'm new to this. I did also look at OpenERP with an eBay add on.

  • Answer:

The sales "forecasting" that most CRM's do is not sales projections. The "forecasting" is typically used by sales reps estimating how much they're going to sell in a month, quarter or year. It sounds like what you're looking for is a report that basically shows sales volumes/totals by month. This would allow you to see trend-lines and estimate revenue for the coming month etc. Does that sound like what you're looking for? Magento is an e-commerce system used for selling products online, not for analysing eBay sales.

EBay has developer APIs that you can pull auction listing data from and product finding interfaces provided, however the terms of the agreement state that you cannot keep data on a listing for further than 6 hours after it has ended.  And they prevent deritive intelligence of any kind (auction aggregation and data warehousing, etc). I have more on this answer, I will update my post today after work.

You can forecast sales for your Ebay store using Inventory Planner.https://inventory-planner.comIt reads your sales and stock information and computes replenishment suggestions for all products based on the history of sales.
