Will Jailbreaking your iPod make it slow?

Will jailbreaking my iPod touch 4g hurt it at all? Like mess it up or make it slow? And should I back it up first?

    When jail breaking make sure it's what you want to do... Although it does seem great (free everything[depending on what you use] who wouldnt want that). But it also has a risk of giving viruses to iPods (some of which can't be fixed) and if your iPod does happen to glitch the service employees (at any store) will refuse to look at it, so I suggest you think about it before you go and jailbreak.

Its a volatile situation, as it can be messed up very quickly and easily if you do the wrong things. And yea its great till it starts glitching and you take it in to have it checked and they hand it back refusing to do anything because you rooted it. Good while it lasts, hope for the best and that it doesn't mess up.

I have heard more than once on this site that it slows it down. Apple will never repair it. Back it up.
