What's the different between college and university?

Should i take the SAT test and whats the difference between community college and university's?

  • I'm a college student and i graduated from high school outside the state so i never took the SAT should i take the SAT this October and transfer to a university and what would be the difference?

  • Answer:

Some univ's take ACT not SAT, esp in Midwest. Usually they'll require one or other but not both tests. Most univ's love transfers because they've already succeeded at college level work. CC is about 1/10 the cost of 4-year colleges and you get out of it what you put in. CC's usually have lists of courses you'll be able to transfer 100% to specific colleges when you get to the point of transferring. My son got a summer internship at Argonne Natl Lab because he got CAD experience at our local CC. The BS degree he had from I.I.T.-Chicago was nice but in his case the CC CAD work was what really got him in.

In a community colleges you can usually only get an associates degree. You can get a bachelor's degree at a university.

You can get a lot of your required courses out of the way at a much lower cost than at a university. Also, a university will have higher degrees and usually more tenured professors.
