What would make a breaker blow and a switch spark then the light switch not work once the breaker was reset

Light switch sparked then the breaker blew and the light and fan would not turn on. Once breaker was reset, the light switch still would not turn on the light or the fan. Now the dryer will not work either, and it is on a different breaker that was blown too. Once reset, the dryer will not come on.

The switch may have failed, or something else in the switch box may have shorted and tripped the breaker. If the short burned through before the breaker tripped, then it wouldn't reappear after the breaker was reset. What did when you turned the breaker off and pulled the switch? Is the dryer gas or electric? Did you turn the breaker for it all the way off before turning it back on?
