Would you submit a one or two page resume for an online job application?

You don't mention if you are uploading a file (Word, PDF, etc.) or filling in an online form. If you are sending a file, be sure that the layout is clear and readable. I've seen a lot of alumni going with a one page resume and including a line on the bottom that reads "See my Linkedin profile for a more detailed description of my work." It's a clever way to show them more information if they're really interested in the one page resume. To me this is much more useful than the useless 'references available upon request' line. Shorter the better ... if you had to go over one page, make sure all your most critical information (recent jobs, key skills, achievements, relevant awards & certifications, etc) are on page 1. A one -page resume shall be good enough or if you are more experienced professional then a 1-2 page is fair enough. The idea is to remove the irrelevant stuff out.
