What portfolio structure works best for a designer with a rather diverse portfolio?

• The way I see it there are three main ways that designers break them up: 1. Show portfolio by client, with a broad array of projects on each client page (helps to emphasize big names and 'cool' brands one has worked with). 2. Show portfolio by medium (ie. web application, iOS app, posters, illustrations, identity designs, etc.) 3. Show portfolio on a project by project basis (usually shows the most stuff up front).

  I think it's best to organize based on what you want your users to see first. You've got a limited amount of time to snag their attention, so you want them to leave having seen the very best that you have to offer. It's inevitable that some of your work tells a better story than the rest, or maybe you have new work that you want to showcase. If you organize by content type you risk them not seeing the awesome work that's buried with the other ios apps. Whatever the case may be, you should organize the content in a way that tells the best story about you as a designer.
