How does suspension affect college admissions?

If one is suspended during college, how much does the suspension affect his/her candidacy during business school admissions?

  • Say the suspension was for cheating on an exam.

  • Answer:

It's difficult to quantify "how much" it will affect your candidacy, but you'll be required to report it. If you can explain the situation, what you learned and why that experience makes you a great candidate for business school, then it shouldn't adversely affect your application. (Assuming that you did, in fact, learn from the experience.)

I have had this experience. It all depends on how  you bounced back after the suspension period and also what kept you going during the suspension period. Bouncing back : After coming back to the college, what is it that you have done that sets you apart from the lot ( Excelling in studies, skills that you have nurtured. extracurricular activities, other initiatives for society etc. What you did during the suspension period : Did you just sit at home and wallow in self pity/close yourself away in a room ? Or Did you explore the opportunities out there and learn something new ? (Travelling, part time jobs, NGOs, getting to know self, music classes etc. ) Basically anything that kept you on and going. It definitely keeps running in your mind all the time, but trust me" it isn't about what kind of shit happened, but more about how you reacted after shit happened "!
