Does your school have 8th grade trips?

Barely got through middle school, failed 8th grade, worried about future

  • i don't know how to start this off but all through elementary school i did fine in school but then once i got into 6th grade things got a little hard. so halfway through the year i dropped out and went to a computer school. so i finished the second half of 6th grade and all of 7th grade, i don't even know how i did it because i can't remember a single thing i learned. then in 8th grade i failed and now i have to repeat it. i don't remember a single thing i learned in the last 2 1/2 years of school and i'm going back to public school for 8th grade this time and i'm worried and don't know what to do

well find a family member, close friend, or a tutor to start helping you with school work. Also study over he summer... i know you wont want to but its definitely worth it since it might help out. Get some books about math and english and every day read a few pages just to refresh your mind. also try to focus in your classes. I know it may be hard with all your friends and crushes ;P but they wont mater if they go to the next grade and forget about you... sorry if im being a bit harsh ut you need to realise that there are challenges in life but if you take time to work on it and get help you will be able to succeed :) btw.. im going to the 9th grade with straight A's :D

Damn sounds like me. It could be ADHD. Do some research on it, and if you think that might be your problem talk to your doctor. Your doctor can help you find out what is wrong. You're not stupid. The school should have someone to help you at study hall or after school (maybe the teacher). I know what you're talking about. I can't f*** this year up too again. Talk to your parents and tell them what you are feeling.

I suggest to just focus on your studies. Maybe lessen your extracurricular activities to have time to do your homework and review. Try to avail of review classes and tutorials in your school. Ask your guidance counselor for help. A lot of times, a little bit of out of school tutorials does the trick. Many things you learn in grade school you do not need in the professional life, but you do need those to pass the college entrance exams and get to college. Bill Gates shared a few words to the rest of the world at one time. He said: I failed in some subjects in exam, but my friend passed in all. Now he is an engineer in Microsoft and I am the owner of Microsoft.” Hope this helps. :-)

I would want to go back in your time because my 8th grade was enormously fun and if i failed i can just go up to 9th. I was not smart but i think teacher just made me go upward. But a what on earth from computer school?I never heard it that existed in my town, but now all you can do is just grab a book - any book you would like to read from library something and start to read what the book said. Start read any book and you have some knowledge on your head. Don't blame on yourself or don't blame anybody because i did that too and it was not worth on your life. I made things go seriously, but finally my last year of HS i just keep repeating the lessons what i learned in school on that day. But I was not smart enough to graduated so I have to repeat again also but since you are in middle school the things matter is lesser than mine. But keep it tight on what you will going to do each days. I felt the time is so flying. in my middle school time i was not friendly or smart wit. But in that time i thought why the time goes slow... i thought wrong. because i did not studied or any activities. But just playing. now i bear my past time.

As on old guy who's worked with students for over 20 years let me tell you some basics. Don't blow this off cause its just some adult talking. The first thing to get a grip on is your attitude. Teachers will bend over backwards to make sure that the kid who is really trying succeeds. Give up the "I don't think I can make it" noise. Instead say to everyone, most often to yourself, "I'm ready to bust my butt this year to make up for the wasted couple of years." Don't focus on all you need to get done this year, focus on what's next, tackle that, feel good about it, then pick the next thing that needs to be done. Your teachers will see this, respect it, and your grades will go up simply cause you are making a real effort with a positive attitude. Most everyone in the school will do all they can for the kid with a positive attitude, who's working hard, and aware he needs to take responsibility for catching up. While a negative attitude may appear cool to the other kids, no adult gives a rat's butt about some negative attitude, "I don't care" or "I'm already beaten" kid. Tell your teachers you know you're behind and am going to make the effort to catch up, whatever it takes. Most importantly, don't give into depression. Not only do you have the opportunity to recover this year, you will have the experience of learning how to master your problems, doing the next thing in front of you, that will follow you with a lifetime of problem solving success. And also, blow off the kids who'll make fun of you for working hard. Don't become infected by their laziness and depression. Kick ass this year. Your future is up to you and your attitude.
