Is it hard to learn how to surf?

  • so i'm going to Florida soon in like 2 month, i live in middle Texas so i barely go to the beach so never had enough time to learn how to surf but i'm staying at a beach house in Florida for a week. and i been wondering if i could learn how to surf (not like a pro just be able to ride a wave).

    Its not hard but takes a lot of practice to ride a wave. It also depends on tons of factors not the least of which is the board. Whose board are you going to ride in Fla? A fun board, fish board, long board, soft top, a wide one, a skinny one, etc. You can be good one one board and suck on another. My advice is learn if u can and just have fun in Fla no matter what. Thats the surfer way. Oh! Be sure to try Mr. Zogs brand sex wax - its yummy!

It definitely comes differently for all people; I'm decently athletic and found it fairly easy to learn and catch a wave! Taking lessons from someone who already knows how is always a huge help, good luck! :)

Just getting up and riding a wave is not that hard. However, as someone who has surfed since I was a child I'll just say that I don't consider that surfing. As a surfer you have to know how to read the waves, the ocean, the wind, the tide, the swell models...it's an extremely involved process that takes years to master. So come to fla, and have fun catching waves. Just please be careful. I literally had to pull a drowning girl out of the water on Monday. She was 15 and a tourist who was caught in a rip current and wasn't a strong swimmer. If I hadn't of been there she would have been the third drowning victim on the east coast of Florida just in the past few months. So just be very cautious.
