What does "no passes" mean on fandango?

Why is there a restriction on passes for The Dark Knight Risss at the theater but Fandango doesn't post about it? Read details...

  • I got a free movie pass since I was donating blood at the drive by the theater this last Thursday. I figured I might as well use it so I looked on Fandango to check the movie times and be sure passes were ok. Once - for another movie - it said passes not allowed but when I called about that they told me the pass I had was okay. However, there was nothing saying no passes allowed so I arrived and was informed that there is still a restriction on passes for that movie. That was annoying since it was 1 hour ago and now I've still got 3 hours of nothing to do while I wait for my fellowship since there was no point in going all the way home and coming all the way back.

The restrictions were there due to an excess of demand for the tickets/passes and Fandago did not post it because of reasons that include unintentional oversight.
