Tip of the middle finger is numb and tingly?

Why does the tip of my middle finger feel like it is asleep?

  • I'm 13 and I was shooting my Bow and Arrows outside when I noticed that the tip my finger felt sort of numb. (It's the middle finger on my right hand. The hand that I use to pull back the string with.) I went inside and my brother said to put ice on it so I did but it didn't help. It has been a couple hours and it still feels weird. Does anyone know what happened? Thanks

  • Answer:

It's from pulling the bow string with that finger. The nerves are temporarily irritated, and don't want to work (nerves are kind of bratty that way). The same thing happens to me when I practice archery... just massage your finger, and give the archery a rest for a while. You will soon be back to normal.

That's normal, it's because you were shooting your bow and that finger was rubbing against the wire while it was vibrating. Your finger is fine.

The possible reason why you feel the tip of your middle finger is somehow numb is because there is no enough blood circulation in it. This could have been caused by its involvement in shooting which prevented blood from going to the tip. This should go away after some time but if a day ends before it is OK, you should see a doctor.
