Mechanical or Civil Engineering?

Which is better for me, Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering?

  • As a kid and still to this day i can take things apart and put them back together with no problem. I have a mechanical aptitude as ive been told be a few family members and friends. I recently pulled a 327 small block out of my project car, cleaned it up and put it back together and it ran well. I am currently enrolled at GMU as a Civil Engineering major, but have been considering Mechanical as some people have pointed out to me the benefits and such of the change. I am STILL unsure of what to do and I would like as much advice as i can take. Thank you

  • Answer:

ME is much more broad than CE. You can work on power plants, refrigeration and motors, aircraft, spacecraft, automobiles, boats, various instruments, consulting, product design, alternative energy...the list goes on.

i think this depends upon the job opportunities in your country-taking things apart and put them back as a kid is no great to degrees in the above fields-

I think you should pick a field that goes well with your career or what you like most. The course that you take should also be based on your abilities to perform certain tasks and also the job opportunities available. However, you need to consult a career expert to help you decide on the course to take.
