How can I talk my parents into getting an exchange student?

First, you need to locate decent student exchange companies online, and then contact with the people that have been on exchange programs so as to find out more details from them. Talk to your teachers about if your school has any sister schools abroad and then have a talk to your parents using that knowledge. You can also inquire for a stipend from your school since this will assist you to pay this trip.

Be careful what you wish for. Yes, exchange students can be a great eye opening experience for both the student and the host family. However, based on those I know, and they have been many, the horror stories outnumber the positive experiences. Everything from run aways, to theft, violence, to pure unadulterated slobs. Before you approach your parents do some research on your own so you are better prepared for their questions and objections.

Haha thats ironic because I'm trying to convince mine to host one for the school year! and I just keep pointing out the benefits it would give. It seems to be working. :)
