Start checking out the colleges you would like to attend and see what the requirements are. SCAD, Art Institute of Colorado, Art Institute of New York are a few good ones. Find a graphic designer in your town and talk to them. Most of all start saving for college now. It is very expensive.

I think it depends on what kind of designer you wanna be. I often hear that web design jobs are really stressful. (Are you willing to work to the DEADLINE!?) So, maybe AFTER you become a designer, things are going to be HARD. (Sorry I'm not answering your question.) Good luck :)

My brother went to the Art Institute of Texas for 4 years, and oh boy was some of it hard. He passed (phew, it wasn't exactly cheap) but another girl failed one of her classes by one percentile and ended up in debt because she hadn't passed. Graphic design is amazing, but if you want it, you've gotta work for it. Good luck though. :)
