How do I delete a LinkedIn profile?

Why doesn't LinkedIn automatically show me the full profile of a LinkedIn user when I click on a LinkedIn result on Google, and when I'm already logged into LinkedIn?

  • Even if you are logged in to LinkedIn, you still just initially see the profile summary, and have to click 'View full profile'.

  • Answer:

    Showing you a different version than what Google sees could be considered cloaking. That is viewed as a serious no-no. In this case, I think the rule does more harm than good, but the general principle makes sense.

It's worse -- even though you are logged into LI, the profile you see thinks you are not, so it makes you log in again, and depending on the profile owner's settings, you might not see much more. This might inflate their daily login counts, which might impress investors, I think.

Because the owner of that profile chose not to make certain parts of his or her profile completely public. c.f. Profile->Edit My Profile and then click on Change Public Profile Settings
