How to call a web service using HttpWebRequest?

Audio Conferencing: What's the best unbranded conference call service to use for web demos, meetings, etc.?

  • We've been using http://FreeConferenceCall.com. While the service quality is good we want to eliminate the branding (in part because we use http://Join.me for our screen sharing and it's confusing to have two separate services). Any good options here for an unbranded conference service? Or even one that allows us to insert our own branding?

  • Answer:

Hey-o, In case you're still looking, Speek is a super simple, free and visual conference platform that lets you use a personal or business link (i.e., http://speek.com/rebecca) rather than a traditional phone number and PIN to connect conference calls. Click the link to start or join a call from a phone, the web, SMS, mobile browser and more. (disclaimer: I am affiliated with this company and highly biased ;). This kind of solution would let you "brand" your link with your company name so that it's easy to remember. Speek also lets you: Talk instantly. Know who’s on the call. Know who’s talking. Share files. View social profiles. Comment, mute and add/remove participants. Hope that's helpful and feel free to ping me with any questions. Speek soon, - Rebecca

Hi, you should definitely check out the open source project: http://voicechatapi.com What you can do: you can self-host this app and insert your branded assets as you please. it's free (if you're using the Plivo-hosted web app). it's exposed via an API which lets you integrate the audio conference functionality into your own app. Details: The app is using WebSDK which is a wrapper around WebRTC and is fully open-sourced here: https://github.com/plivo/voicechat It should be a breeze for you to integrate a free click-to-call audio feature into your web app/sites. In addition it's conveniently exposed via a RESTful API which lets you integrate audio conference into many third-party apps you use. (make a POST request and you're done.) The documentation is here: http://plivo.github.io/voicechat Disclosure: I work at Plivo. For further questions, feel free to send me a note at dh(at)http://plivo.com

http://BrandedBridgeLine.com   sounds like what you're going for.   Full disclosure,  I'm a proud co-founder.   You customize the experience for callers (welcome message, hold music,  and even marketing messages to be played for certain callers.)   Note that many of the answers here refer to custom branding _once you've dialed your PIN_ -- that's not much of a branded experience.  Your  brand deserves a totally professional voice (not a robot) from the second the phone is answered.

At http://www.conferencelabs.com we let you customise your own branding with some pretty neat text-to-speech algorithms. This means you can personalise your own welcome message to greet callers. Our service is free, calls are available instantly with just 1-click (yes, really 1-click from landing on the homepage!) and you can have up to 100 callers at any one time with no call quality loss. We also give you a visual web-based interface to the call, so participants can dial in with any phone but you can see who's on the call and who's speaking at any time via any browser. Hope this helps! Disclaimer: I work for ConferenceLabs (in case you didn't guess!).

http://FreeConferenceCall.com has a huge mind share among consumers looking for free conferencing solutions. However, there are several other options that are worth considering. The best option that should serve your requirements is http://Uberconference.com (http://truvoipbuzz.com/2012/06/free-conference-calling-uberconference-makes-conferencing-fun-review/). While the free version has some branding (very minimal), you can upgrade to insert your own branding. Another option that I would suggest is http://vsee.com (http://truvoipbuzz.com/2012/02/vsee-free-group-video-conferencing-tool/). It is a video conferencing tool with lot of features and completely unbranded. If you are looking for commercial tools, check out http://Anveo.com (http://truvoipbuzz.com/2010/11/anveo-brings-smart-way-to-use-phones-voice-2-0-review/)

If your company is large enough you can brand your own solution. Usually, a company like InterCall or PGI can brand, for example, and Enterprise size company like a bank's (for example: Bank ABC) conferencing: ABC Conferencing. Everything from support emails and when they answer the phone etc. will be branded "ABC Conferencing." If you are just asking about a "no name" service, then I am not sure who to suggest. You get what you pay for especially if you are global or regional (or don't pay for), especially when you Senior leadership is in an important call.
