What's the best blogging platform for startups?
-
WordPress seems to be the industry standard platform for blogging. But would something like Tumblr or Weebly be better for a small startup? Our blog posts are generally just one paragraph of text paired with some photos/videos.

Answer:
Wordpress is pretty much the standard for blogging CMS's. It's easy to set up, has a large community behind it, and has many, many modules relating to blogging. However, if you plan on doing anything more than just blogging with your site (perhaps building a community, branching it out of another site, or, really, anything), I recommend Drupal. Drupal is a great CMS for more than just blogs; it's a project that "offers a unique blend of framework and product" that is maintained by one of the largest open source communities out there. I would still stick with Wordpress no matter how small the articles are. Wordpress is the leader for a reason and you are going to want the customizations it allows for. I am going to strong disagree with another answer which listed Facebook Page, that's a bad idea. There's a lot of research around the analytics and engagements on FB and they aren't good. Wordpress is really your best bet. You can then push it through all these different outlets. It also looks the most professional.

I really like Squarespace. It is incredibly easy to get set up and provides great extensibility without requiring a huge learning curve.

I would recommend http://MyStudioBlog.com. It has powerful features that you would find on the average blogging platform plus more. For example: It allows anyone to start a business with their very own free blog. On MyStudioBlog, blog owners can raise funds for their blog through MyStudioBlog's "Studio Stock" feature where others can invest in blogs with virtual stocks that converts into real money.

With WordPress you can do amazing things with your website, things you never thought about for now, things you can't even imagine they exist. Unlike other blogging platforms, WordPress has a community of developers that keeps adding great functionalities to the software..... I didn't see any other blogging platform so close to WordPress at the moment.
