Is it possible to ski from Val Thorens to Meribel?
-
I was wondering if the conditions are correct if it was possible to ski directly from Val Thorens to Meribel and how long would it take for someone who can ski well? I might be going to Val Thorens soon and have a friend in Meribel and wanted to know if I would be able to visit them.

Answer:
Yes, they are adjacent ''sister resorts'' and both part of the Trois Vallees ski area. Just now some of the lifts and connections are closed but it is normally easy. Depending on exactly where you/your friends are statying it is roughly up one side of the mountain, down the other side and there you are - so pretty fast. You just need to buy the lift-pass that covers the whole area. There is an all day round trip circuit you can do that includes all three (four) valleys and the various resorts. http://www.les3vallees.com/en/on-a-large-scale/the-resorts-val-thorens.23.s8/

Yes. From Val Thorens to Meribel, you have to take two chair lifts called "3 Vallées". From Meribel to Val Thorens, you have to take the chair lift of "Côte Brune" (although I'm unsure about that last one). Basically, Val Thorens and Meribel are on both sides of the Mont de la Chambre. Note that the "3 Vallées" ski pass is quite expensive but absolutely worth it if you want to ski Val Thorens, Meribel and Courchevel.

Yes. From Val Thorens, you need to take only two ski lifts to reach the Meribel Valley (15 minutes). Then depending on the village in which your friend will be (Meribel Mottaret, Meribel Village, Meribel 1600, ...), you will need 15 to 45 minutes to reach him. So it's very easy if you ski well.

Definitely, Meribel is the middle valley of the three and easy to reach. You might want to stay with your friend a night as Meribel is a nice town. You also might want to join up with your friend for skiing and head all the way over to Courchevel and return. That's a longer trip but fun and beautiful. Good luck and have good time!

yes, but you need ski pass for whole resort to come back. Or take a bus :)
