How Do I put the following on a resume?

Which fits better in a resume? Subjects studied or skills obtained?

  • I'm making my resume following the european standard because I'm not very good at making templates for resumes. But now, as I asked, I don't know what is better to put in the resume... whether Subjects I've studied (with marks) or skills I've obtained. Thanks

  • Answer:

Lead with whatever you think is the strongest part of your employment background.  Just remember, most resume screeners are only "glancing" at your resume, they aren't reading it word-for-word.  So make it easy for them (and you)!  Put the best content at the top of your resume, and consider putting it in bullet points.  I digress a bit, but this actually does tie-in to your question:  some folks are experimenting with QR codes on their resumes and cover letters.  There are free sites that will create a QR code for you.  You could consider putting lots of info on your QR code, and then put the code on your resume and cover letter.  It's just a thought, but it could be a way to get someone's attention and get all your skills and classes in front of someone who can call you in for an interview.

It all depends on what you want from your resume. Who's your audience? What do they care most about? Are your studies or skills stronger qualifications for the job? Lead with your strongest qualifications, but also prioritize what's important to your reader. The best resumes list quantifiable accomplishments to "prove" your skills and set you apart from other candidates.

Are the areas your studied or the skills acquired more pertanent to the job description?  Whichever one is going to show that you have some type of experience that would help you excel at the job would be the one to fit better, but I would include both!
