Who are the best email remarketers / loyalty marketers?
-
Could be individuals or companies. Looking for people who do really smart email remarketing to existing customers via tools like Responsys, ExactTarget, etc.

Answer:
While it's popular to use terms like "remarketing", "inbound marketing", and "permission based marketing" now you have to keep in mind that it's all the same old ball game with new uniforms. If you're looking for a brilliant remarketer then you're really looking for a talented copywriter or a direct-response marketing agency with a track record for producing sales in the real world. In the end you'll get what you pay for. There's really no such thing as a professional "remarketer". It's just a fancy way to say "follow up" or "upsell" or "downsell" and so on. http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/E/ecommerce_remarketing.html I don't honestly know who the "best email remarketers" are today. I seriously doubt that anybody really knows who they would be and I would be highly suspicious of anybody that claims that they do know. But if I had to start looking then I'd look for a a brilliant copywriter first and an agency second. I would hire a guy like Ray Edwards to do the job. Or bring him on as a consultant to find somebody who could do the job for you. http://rayedwards.com/ (I'm not affiliated with Ray Edwards in any way.) The problem with answering that kind of question is that we're kind of an anonymous profession as a whole. I know that for the first two years of my career I was always writing under my clients names. You wouldn't have had a clue who I was even if you read my emails every day. You'll find that some of the best direct response copywriters don't even have a website because they're too busy working to bother with self promotion. I didn't even start my own website up again until this year. The best email marketer I know is almost impossible to get a hold of. I used to work with the guy and I'm not ashamed to recommend him. If you can get a hold of him then I highly recommend his services: http://www.jasonleister.com/ If you're asking "Who would I hire?" then the last thing I would be looking at would be what kind of tools they're using. The tools can be picked up in a day or two to do the job at hand and they hardly matter. The master carpenter can build a house with a hammer and a handsaw. But anybody can swing a hammer or cut a board. It doesn't mean they can build a house. I know that's a roundabout way to answer a question. But I hope that my answer helps you find the right person for the task at hand. Thank you.

I would look at both: ⢠the email marketing vertical and ⢠the direct response copy writing vertical Finally to echo a bit of what pointed out, I think is an emerging area--perhaps the loyalty firms which built on more digital technologies might be helpful. I would ask for recommendations in that area...or at least look who the thought leaders were in the area. I'm not sure how good he is, but I know is on Quora, and check out the client list. He could at least provide recommendations. Update: Wow Ray Edwards does have a pretty decent client list for email marketing: His clients include Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield, Armand Morin, Matt Bacak, Jeff Walker, Alex Mandossian, Frank Kern, and Mark Victor Hansen Although, clearly talking to him about his metrics and returns would be helpful.
