How open is IT field for entry level?

How can an entry-level person break into the content strategy field?

  • I have a B.A. in a writing-focused course and two years experience working as a design strategist. I want to break into the content strategy field but find only senior positions posted. What are good places to look for internships and junior level positions?

  • Answer:

Before you are able to define solid content strategies, you have to start bottom up. First work a couple of years as editor or content manager and then work your way up. Will help you a lot along the way if you know what strategies actually mean in daily practice and what the effect of it is on your readers/visitors.

Find where your current strengths are. I don't think (at least at this point in time) there is a traditional path towards becoming a content strategist. Because is very broad in scope, there can be many paths to get there. Yes, Copyblogger rocks! So does Hubspot and CMI.

You can start guest- and/or ghost blogging. Also I'd recommend signing up for Copyblogger's newsletter course for copywriters.
