How do you program a U-verse remote to work for volume on the U-verse setup TV that the remote goes to?

Somehow our remote stopped changing the volume on the TV from the U-verse remote. My old roommate knew how to reset it or something so it would work but she's moved out of the country and we don't have much contact anymore and getting up to adjust the volume all the time is driving me crazy! Please help!
