Does domain name masking negatively effect SEO?
-
I've masked the domain name of my website (http://host.website.com) to be (http://website.com) and now each subpage shows (http://website.com) instead of (http://host.website.com/page). Will my SEO suffer because of this?
-
Answer:
Yes, because you've made it impossible for people to share links to sub-pages on your site - which means you won't get incoming links to those pages, a crucial ranking metric.

Masking is a very amateurish thing, and I can imagine only ever doing it for a splash page, or very early-stage website. Once you're worrying about SEO, you should be far-beyond utilizing a splash page.
