Does "Find my Mac" work with a password-protected account?
-
I have one account on my Mac. It's admin. It's password protected. If I use the "Find my Mac" function from Apple...will it still work? If the thief opens the laptop and can't log in, will Find my Mac still start and locate the computer, even though he's not logged in?

Answer:
Yes. Find My Mac requires you to register the Mac with an Apple ID, but it makes no requirement of the user that registers it (other than they need to provide an Admin credential to set it up; the user is prompted for same). No user need be logged in, but for it to work, the computer must have been turned on and connected to a network in its new location.
