Here is my selection of "small museums" from the exhaustive Answer Wiki we built on Musée Rodin (M° Varenne or Invalides): a small, beautiful museum entirely devoted to Rodin's work; you'll see the original of "le Penseur" & "le Baiser" for instance. Nice place with a pleasant garden... Musée Carnavalet in the third. It is a converted mansion near Place des Vosges that houses a very impressive collection from the period of Louis XIV to XVI. It has a nice garden as well and best of all, it is hardly as busy as the more famous museums. Victor Hugo's house (on the Place des Vosges) - a beautiful 17th/19th century townhouse Musée Gustave-Moreau - another great space and filled with somewhat phantasmagorical works Musée Nissim de Camondo - mansion and collection of a rich early 20th century merchant. Near the beautiful Parc Monceau. La Sainte Chapelle - not exactly a museum but an astonishing jewel box of a medieval chapel filled with stained glass Musée de l'Orangerie, the small museum handpicked and designed by Claude Monet to exhibit some of his most famous works. The cycle of water lily paintings (the Nympheas) on the ground floor is utterly unforgettable. This museum is a beautiful example of the environment and presentation of the piece adding substantially to the experience of viewing a great work of art. Musée de la Contrefaçon (Museum of Counterfeiting), near the Porte Dauphine Métro station. If you are interested in consumer products, branding, and trademarks, you might enjoy it. It is a project of the Union des Fabricants (manufacturers of products), so it is not about the counterfeiting of currency. You can see authentic and counterfeit products juxtaposed next to each other in display cases and see how difficult it can be to tell them apart. Musée Marmottan http://www.marmottan.com/ One of the world's biggest collections of Monet's paintings - and the area is stunning ... And remember, use this Google Map on your smartphone to find each location: http://g.co/maps/5jvqe
