How do you track adsense revenue through Google analytics?

Why doesn't Google Adsense support HTTPS?

  • I find it curious/annoying that Google Adsense doesn't support serving ads on pages w/ https enabled: https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=10528.  As it becomes best practice to move more than just login/checkout pages to SSL (to defend against session hijacking, enhance privacy, etc...). Twitter, Facebook, and, um, Google, have enabled https throughout their sites. But for the third party little guy dependent on Adsense for revenue...this isn't possible until Adsense supports SSL. FWIW, Analytics does. Is it just a matter of time? Or is there some business reason (like needing to be able reliably crawl the referring URL) for why Adsense doesn't support connections via https? (update - people have been asking for SSL support for a while :http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/AdSense/thread?tid=1884bc9310d9f923&hl=en)

  • Answer:

Google does in fact support serving ads on HTTPS. I have a site that I switched over to HTTPS and was concerned about the Adsense income dropping.  I had read that only advertisers that support HTTPS would be allowed to bid on ad placement for HTTPS sites, therefore the bidding pool would be smaller leading to lower cpc.  At first I noticed a slight decrease, but things seem to have returned to normal after a couple of weeks.  In fact I had a few days of very high cpc. Best of luck.
