How do I get a visa to Brazil?

How can you get a visa to work in Brazil?

  • What is the quickest way to get a visa in Brazil?

  • Answer:

There are various visas you can get to work in Brazil.  Here is a summary the most relevant information. If you work for a company: 1) If they lend services to a Brazilian company which require technical skills you can get a Business Visa which allows you to work in Brazil being paid in your country of origin. 2) If your company wants a presence in Brazil, you can be a director of this company, and get an Administrator's Visa.  This visa is a permanent resident's visa and it requires investment of your company of at least R$150k with the intention of hiring 10 Brazilian over 2 years, or R$600k outright If you don't work for a company: 3) Work for a Brazilian company.  For a Temporary Work Visa you will need to have a work contract with a salary equal or greater than your salary in your country of origin.  The visa is valid for 2 years and application for a permanent visa is possible afterwards. 4) Create and invest in a Brazilian company.  An Investor's Visa requires investment of R$150k with the intention of hiring 10 Brazilian over 2 years, or R$600k outright.  As long as the money is registered as capital, this money can be invested in property.  The visa is a permanent resident's visa. All visas takes 30-60 days to come through.   Note that all these visas are linked to a specific company.  Change companies and you need a new visa.  You can apply for the visa yourself, but if speed is important, you can hire a companies that specializes in getting visas.  The following firms are well respected in Rio de Janeiro, however, they will charge you more if they think you are foreign so get a Brazilian to get a quote: http://www.emdoc.com.br http://www.mrsservicos.com.br Other options include marrying a Brazilian which I have seen done but it takes a very long time to get the documents (extremely bureaucratic) so definitely not a quick solution. Last notes:  1) It is not easy to find work as a foreigner in Brazil so coming and looking for work is a risky move I would not recommend.  2) Starting a business is not straight-forward.  For more information, feel free to message me. NOTE:  I have not included visas for marriage / civil union which I have seen done its a headache and takes a long time.  Also, I heard you can become a citizen of a Mercosul country like Paraguay for a few thousand dollars and obtain residency in Brazil that way but I have not researched this enough to validate it.
