What online site can I use to search for a job?

Is there any research on the use of site navigation or site search specifically on the different behaviors of men and women?

  • I would like to know if there is any case study/research/infographic/statistics on how men and women use site navigation (menu) vs site search (search box).

  • Answer:

From my experience the split is more along experience lines rather than gender. I use the word experience rather than age because it's really about how familiar a user is with the site search in question and how good the search is on that site. New users expect search will be awesome and use it more often. Experienced users either have learned where to go, or they have learned to trust search or not. It also depends heavily on the type of site. Some sites like eBay, Amazon, YouTube or craigslist almost require search to be useful. While on a site like the New York Times, search is less important since the user can browse and does not necessarily come to the site with a research agenda.
