What plugin/Theme should I use in Wordpress?

Should I Use Wordpress or Custom code a Directory site which i am planning to make?

• The site was custom designed, but then later changed to wordpress. I found that the traffic increased tremendously while it was in wordpress. Now time has come that i change the site again and am not sure of what to use. Should it be custom designed (as i have to include new forms and integrate a lot of social networking ) or simply go with wordpress (am not really good with wordpress themes and cannot code plugins)

  Quite a few Directory plug-ins are available for WordPress. You need not know how to code in Wordpress to use it efficiently. The advantage you will have is the very large WP community to help you out, and lots of How-to articles available. If you cannot code, then custom coding would put many more restrictions on you (in my opinion), granted you will get the flexibility in functionality you were looking for (which I am assuming you cannot find in WordPress). In short, stick with WordPress if you can. There are many plug-ins / widgets, themes to help you out.
