What is the average cost of radio, tv, newspaper, yellow pages, and magazine advertising?

This answer may be too general for you, but the truth is that is it whatever they can take you for! In a more general sense, it is priced based on a couple things - the circulation (how many people read or see it) and the audience....people who read the NT TImes are worth more per capita than those who may read the Daily News, etc. All that said, it is really what the market will bear! Full page ads in magazines can be $1,000 or $100,000+. TV commercials can be $10 each or 3 million each. However, in my (general) experience, ALL of these media usually cost more than they are worth (the actual value)...for the following reasons: 1. Overhead is very high - you are paying as much or more for the sales people, commissions, etc. as you are for the "beef". 2. Media has become dependent on their buyers getting "co-op" money from manufacturers...this means a retailers gets money from their vendors for placing ads - often covering 1/2 or 3/4 of the cost! As a result, the media figures the retail will buy the ads at a high price because they are not paying for it all out of their pockets! One large national corporation I did business with told me the cost of ONE LEAD (for a home improvement product) when advertising with magazine - was $36.00.  IMHO, that is too much for most businesses to spend. In a general sense, if you can find internet advertising which fits your needs, it will cost much less.

I can offer more specific information about newspaper but newspaper advertising also is highly dependent upon the market/ publication within the market/ frequency or length of time it will be printed/ etc.
