What is the best practice for URL structure when usernames follow the domain?
-
These days, if you got users, it makes a lot of sense to simplify the url structure by making it example.com/user.... but then you have the problem that http://example.com/blog http://example.com/about http://example.com/settings etc conflicts w/ usernames.... While you can reserve some usernames, if you don't work with subdomains in a well thought out approach, you'll need more pages in the future and sooner or later there will be a clash. Personally, if I see the usernames in the url, I'd expect that portion to be reserved for users and work the rest of the site around subdomains... Which begs the question, what's the best way to set this up? A subdomain per page seems a pain... What's a good set of sub's to build around?
