How to deal with the Asperger Syndrome?

How much time is spent on physical appearance by a person with Asperger Syndrome?

• I read in books and articles about people with Asperger's Syndrome do not really pay much attention to their physical appearance. They like to keep it simple and wear clothes they feel comfortable in. They do not spend much time for their hair, make-up etc. Some of them even feel not feminine, but more of a tomboy. I've been asking this question, because I recognize some other symptoms of Asperger, but not this one. I think my physical appearance is of very importance. I spend a lot of time in my appearance, ranging from hair to make-up. So I'd like to know how much time people with Asperger's Syndrome spend in their physical appearance? Is it a much, normal or little?

  Everyone with Aspergers syndrome is different and will have different preferences.  One of the possible traits of AS is low or poor hygiene and lack of concern about appearances. For example, disheveled hair, long fingernails, not showering, etc. One explanation is that people with AS don't see the point in doing any of those things, so they don't. However this does not mean that someone with poor hygiene or no concern for their appearance has AS, or that all people with AS have no concern for their appearance. If you think you might have AS, the best thing you can do is go through the medical steps to get a diagnosis.
