Handbrake. Coincidentally, it's also the best media converter out there hands down, plus it is free. I don't like the presets though, so play around with them a bit and test out what you like first.

Handbrake worked fantastically until I upgraded to Yosemite. Now it won't let me burn hard subtitles into my vids. Anyone else experience this issue post-update?
